Raymond Alexander Cotton, 47 of Veedersburg Route 1, was pronounced dead on arrival at 9:51 p.m. Monday (Aug. 2, 1976) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, IL. Mr. cotton was stricken at his home. Emergency technicians from Fountain County Ambulance Service, the sheriff and two deputies went to the scene in answer to the call for assistance. Vermillion County Coroner Gary Ballard attributed death to, Mrs. Rachel Martin natural causes. A life resident of Fountain County, Mr. Cotton was a Veedersburg resident for five years. A former resident of Cates, he was a Korean War Veteran and a member of the Kingman American Legion Post. Born March 30, 1929, he was the son of Alexander Raymond and s. Lillian Sarah V. Stonebraker Cotton. He married Charlotte Conrad on Dec. 24, 1956. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Miss Paula Cotton at home; a son, Stephen Ray at home; a sister, Mrs. LaVerna Biermann of Elgin, IL; a half sister, Mrs. Marsonna Crowder of Bloomingdale; a brother, Albert Lee of Clinton; three nieces and three nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. Burial will be in Coopers Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. tch
